Rebecca Silverman - Biography
An honours graduate of the Royal College of Music, Rebecca is an accomplished performer of opera, sacred music and art song. At the age of fifteen, she had the opportunity to take a small principal role in Ludd and Isis, an opera by Stephen Taylor and Richard Plaice, commissioned by the Royal Opera House to inaugurate the opening of its new production facility in Purfleet in Essex. It was this experience that sparked her ambition to become an opera singer.
Rebecca has worked closely with Longborough Festival’s Playground Opera, performing the role of Adina last summer, and Gretel in their tour of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. In September 2020, she created the role of Eve in the Tête à Tête opera company’s production of A&E, a new contemporary opera by Muelas+Ward, which was revived for Grimeborn Festival in 2023. In 2018 she created the role of Lucy in Sophie Sparkes’ Our Perfect Child.
Rebecca has prepared the roles of Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Adina in L’elisir d’amore with the New Generation Festival company in Florence. She has also performed the roles of Adele in Die Fledermaus with Chelmsford City Opera, as well as Pepik in The Cunning Little Vixen and Cathleen in Riders to the Sea, both with British Youth Opera.
Rebecca is also a former Essex Young Musician of the Year, and Freda Parry Classical Singing Scholarship winner.
